Rooted in Faith:

A Progressive Christian Confirmation Curriculum

A 10-week UCC confirmation curriculum for churches that want to invite curiosity, honor questions, and help youth grow a faith rooted in love, compassion, and community.

Confirmation used to be about memorizing scripture, testing biblical and theological knowledge, and building a litmus test for faith.

Our curriculum is different

Rooted in Faith is a progressive Christian confirmation curriculum that invites youth to explore what they believe, ask honest questions, engage scripture, practice faith, and discover how God’s love connects them more deeply to God, their neighbors, and themselves.

Progressive theology rooted in God’s love

“I am entering into this confirmation class feeling more confident and ready than any other year. I can't be more thankful for your curriculum as each session is succinct, accessible, not too wordy, and actually interesting!”

- Rev. JB

About the Curriculum

In this ten-week curriculum written by UCC pastor, Rev. Kelsey Beebe, students will learn about an ancient faith tradition that is still meaningful thousands of years after it first began. They will come to know a God who loves and cares about them unconditionally, and see how their faith can help shape their everyday life.

By the end of the curriculum, our hope is that each young person will leave with a deeper sense of God’s abundant love—and a growing, rooted faith that connects them more fully to God, their neighbors, and themselves.

Structured enough to support you. Flexible enough to fit your community.

Rooted in Faith is written so leaders can take what they need, add what they’d like, and leave the rest. Each session gives you enough structure to guide meaningful conversation and engagement, while still leaving room to adapt the curriculum to your community, your students, and your church culture.

The Companion Devo

The Rooted in Faith Devotional is designed to accompany students through the confirmation journey. It gives youth space to reflect, wonder, journal, pray, and pay attention to how faith is taking root in their own lives.

At the beginning of the devotional, students are gently reminded that this book is not here to quiz them, or pressure them to have everything figured out. Instead, it offers scripture to guide them, questions for them to journal or reflect on, and simple devotions to help them discern and deepen their own faith.

Each week includes:

  • a scripture verse

  • a longer devotional reflection

  • journaling questions

  • a shorter midweek reflection

  • a closing benediction

Faith is not a project we complete or aim to perfect; it is something we practice.
— Rev. Kelsey Beebe

Rooted in Faith is a progressive Christian confirmation curriculum designed for United Church of Christ (UCC) churches and other progressive Christian communities seeking a thoughtful, engaging confirmation program for youth.

This is not your typical confirmation curriculum. For too long, confirmation has focused on memorizing Bible verses and testing knowledge. But faith is so much more than that: it’s something we live, practice, and embody.

This curriculum invites youth into a dynamic, experience-based faith and learning journey. Each session encourages curiosity, meaningful questions, and real-life engagement with their faith. Through spiritual practices, open discussions, and activities, students will be invited to encounter God, discover the heart of Jesus’ teachings, and pay attention to how the Spirit is moving in and around them.

Over ten weeks, students will learn about an ancient faith tradition that is still meaningful thousands of years after it first began.

This curriculum pairs with the Rooted in Faith Confirmation Devotional, a companion resource designed for students to use throughout the week with scripture reflections, journaling prompts, and short devotionals that reinforce what they are learning in each session.

A 10-week devotional companion for confirmation students.

Confirmation is a meaningful moment in a young person’s faith journey — but it can also come with a lot of pressure to “get everything right,” or have all the answers.

This devotional offers something different.

Rooted in Faith invites students to approach faith not as a test to pass, but as a practice to explore. Through short reflections, scripture, journaling prompts, and blessings, this devotional helps youth engage their curiosity, ask honest questions, and begin developing a faith rooted in love, compassion, and community.

Written by Rev. Kelsey Beebe, an ordained minister and founder of Faith in Motion, this devotional accompanies the Rooted in Faith Confirmation Curriculum and provides a simple rhythm of reflection students can engage throughout the week.

Each week includes:

  • A scripture passage to center reflection

  • A longer devotional reading

  • Journaling prompts for personal reflection

  • A short mid-week reflection

  • A closing benediction

Rather than focusing on having the “right answers,” this devotional encourages students to wonder, reflect, and discover what faith means in their own lives.

As Pastor Kelsey reminds readers:

“Faith is not a project we complete or aim to perfect; it is something we practice.”
