Rooted in Faith is a progressive Christian confirmation curriculum that invites youth to explore what they believe, ask honest questions, engage scripture, practice faith, and discover how God’s love connects them more deeply to God, their neighbors, and themselves.

About the Curriculum
In this ten-week curriculum written by UCC pastor, Rev. Kelsey Beebe, students will learn about an ancient faith tradition that is still meaningful thousands of years after it first began. They will come to know a God who loves and cares about them unconditionally, and see how their faith can help shape their everyday life.
By the end of the curriculum, our hope is that each young person will leave with a deeper sense of God’s abundant love—and a growing, rooted faith that connects them more fully to God, their neighbors, and themselves.

Rooted in Faith is grounded in progressive Christian theology and written by Rev. Kelsey Beebe, an ordained UCC pastor with nearly two decades of experience in parish ministry, children, youth, and family ministry, and outdoor ministry.
Rev. Kelsey is known for her open, inclusive, and embodied approach to theology. The curriculum uses expansive language for God throughout, avoiding masculine pronouns and inviting students to encounter God beyond narrow or limited images.
Following in UCC tradition, Rev. Kelsey takes the Bible seriously, not literally - but also with a hint of playfulness. Scripture and learning about our faith is approached with reverence, curiosity, imagination, and play, inviting participants to wonder, ask questions, and grow in a faith that is rooted in God’s abundant love.

The Companion Devo
The Rooted in Faith Devotional is designed to accompany students through the confirmation journey. It gives youth space to reflect, wonder, journal, pray, and pay attention to how faith is taking root in their own lives.
At the beginning of the devotional, students are gently reminded that this book is not here to quiz them, or pressure them to have everything figured out. Instead, it offers scripture to guide them, questions for them to journal or reflect on, and simple devotions to help them discern and deepen their own faith.
Each week includes:

a shorter midweek reflection
